God don’t ever change Blind Willie Johnson

From the classic by Blind Willie Johnson a modern recreation of this incredible slide guitar blues. To me Blind Willie Johnson was a true case of a mans struggle in life as a result of his affliction from poverty, racial discrimination and blindness. Travelling the streets singing hollars and spirituals with a tin can on a piece of string as he played for tips to the passers by. What is even more incredible is how a makeshift Dallas studio in 1929 was to be the place where he recorded his timeless pieces, God don’t ever change and Dark was the Night, Cold was the ground. Dark was the night is now travelling through space on a gold disc as we speak on the Voyager satellite as a representation of our music and humanity. “Dark Was the Night, Cold Was the Ground was included, according to Timothy Ferris, because “Johnson’s song concerns a situation he faced many times: nightfall with no place to sleep. Since humans appeared on Earth, the shroud of night has yet to fall without touching a man or woman in the same plight.” I hope you enjoy my contribution in honor of Blind Willie Johnson. Let this man and his faith in God be a light for you and the struggles and injustices that life may have dealt you. Indeed, God don’t ever change! Our rock and our refuge. Amen.
